Mr. Charles Gerald "Zip" Risner, 67, of 334 Hodges Mill Rd., Hartwell, died Sunday, February 4 at his home.

Born on March 4, 1938 in Hart Co. GA, he was the son of the late Rubin A. Risner and Eula Rogers Risner.He was a self-employed auto body mechanic, member of the Reed Creek Baptist Church and a US Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife: Linda Harbin Risner; a daughter: Shannon Hyde and her husband John of Hartwell; three brothers: James T. Risner, Danny R. Risner and Ruben A. Risner all of Hartwell; two sisters: Ruth A. Fiedler and Nancy Edmonds both of Atlanta; a grandson: Zackary Hyde also survives.He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Gerald Anthony Risner and a sister: Hauline Brooks.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 7 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Stowe and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating.Burial will be in the Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night.The family is at the home of his daughter: Shannon and John Hyde, 240 Hatton Ford Rd., Hartwell, GA.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to defray burial expenses.
