Mr. Charles Ray Sewell, age 68, of Lavonia, died Friday, December 24, 2010 at his home.
Born September 7, 1942, in Macon, GA, he was the son of the late Guy Ray Sewell and Christine V. Raleigh. Mr. Sewell was raised in Carnesville by the late Leon and Eunice (Sewell) Hunt. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, and was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. Mr. Sewell retired from Coats and Clark after 33 years of service as a machine operator.
He is survived by his wife: Recca (Stelwagen) Sewell; son: Charles Ray Sewell, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law: Cathy and Johnny Coxx; grandchildren: Andrew Murphy, Alexx Coxx, Alleigh Sewell, and Lane Sewell; special cousins: Joleon Gershon, Patricia Tyner, and Jackie Acuesta; and siblings: Shirley Moye, Donna Wigley, Debbie Bowman, Linda Elrod, Ronnie Sewell, and Johnny Sewell.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Monday from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour. At other hours the family will be at the home of Cathy and Johnny Coxx.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2010 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Hoard officiating. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to defray funeral expenses.
