Mr. Charles O. Shiflet, age 80 of 165 E. Franklin St., Hartwell, GA., died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Hartwell Health Care Center.
Born August 15, 1927 in Hart County, GA, he was the son of the late Charlie Clayton Shiflet and Ethel Cornell Shiflet.He retired from Milliken, after 43 years of service, as the Planning Manager and after retiring, he worked with Starr Fleet Auto Sales.He was a member of Hartwell First Baptist Church and a former member of the Lions Club.He was a U.S. Army WW II Veteran serving in the 3rd Army 1st Armour Division.
He is survived by:Wife, Celeste Segars Shiflet of the home; Sons, Charles Harris Shiflet and his wife Cathy of Anderson, SC, Timothy Owen Shiflet of Hartwell, GA, John Mark Shiflet of Pendleton, SC; Stepsons, Todd Craft and his wife Robin of Royston, GA, and Wesley Craft and his wife Michelle of Hartwell, GA; 3 step grandchildren, Spencer Craft, Kerrigan Craft and Leanne Howell; 1 step great grandchild, Kaitlin Howell.He is preceded in death by his Parents; Brother, Ervin Shiflet and Sisters, Opal Cheek, Hazel Foster, Audrey Guest, Evelyn Robertson, Mildred Thornton and Jean Thompson.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.at the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Dr. Steve Williams and Rev. Gordon Taylor will officiate.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
