Obituary

Mr. Charles Andrew Wingard, 89, of 20 Lanier St, Hartwell, died Saturday, March 20, 2010 at his home.

Born on October 20, 1920 in Greenville SC, he was the son of the late Justice Wingard and Nancy Elizabeth Canup Wingard.He was a retired Jeweler and was the owner of O.Y. McLee's Jewelers from 1960 to 1996.He was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church, a former Deacon, SS Teacher and Choir member.He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Wood Wingard of the home; a son, David Wingard and his fiancée' Donna Pace of Easley SC; a brother, Jess Wingard of Denver NC; three grandchildren; Lane Murray and her husband Matthew, Leah Paine and her husband Lewis and Andrea Kelley; two great-grandchildren, Savannah Murray and Hayden Murray also survive.Mr. Wingard was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cindy Kelley; two brothers, James Wingard and Fred Wingard and two sisters, Evelyn McConnell and Nell Abney.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 22 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. John Silver and Rev. Carter Tucker officiating.Burial will be in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Monday afternoon.The family is at the home. Flowers optional, memorials may be made to Sardis Baptist Church, 4359 Anderson Hwy, Hartwell, GA30643.
