Obituary

Mr. Charley Marcum, 70, of Hartwell, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023 at his home.

Born on March 3, 1953 in Kermit, WV, he was the son of the late Henry Marcum and Missouri Marcum. Mr. Marcum was a retired fork lift operator for Abbot Labs, and a member of the Church of Christ. Charley always put God & Country first. He was also an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Atlanta Braves Fan, and was an avid Ford lover and loved raising cows.

He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years: Linda Hart Marcum of Hartwell; four children: Shelly Marcum of Hartwell, Kimberly Marcum (Dejuan Thomas) of Newark, OH, Charley Marcum, II (Laura) of Newcastle, OH, and Robert Marcum of Newark, OH; one sister: Brenda Spaulding (Jesse) of Crum, WV; one brother: Lelon Waller (Crissy) of Crum, WV; nine grandchildren: Kaytelin Bybee-Rowe (Zaine Rowe), Victoria Bybee, Taylor Strohm, Trevor Wolfe, Kayleigh Wolfe, Gage Marcum, Madison Marcum, Scarlett Marcum. And Tristan Moore; four great grandchildren: Kian Lowery, Giovanni Wolfe, Loki Rowe, Archie Gambill, and twin Rowes on the way; and several nieces & nephews also survive. Mr. Marcum is preceded in death by his parents and many siblings: Maggie, Lester, Rufus, Dallas, Juanita, Frankie, Ruthie, Dorothy, Edith, Henry Jr, Willard, James Rufus, and Edna.

A private family service for Mr. Charley Marcum will be held at the Strickland Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 2452 Spring Rd. SE, Smyrna, GA 30080.

The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
