Mr. Charlie Lee Gale, 81, of South Jackson Street, Hartwell, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at his home.
Born on February 9, 1932 in Conway SC, he was the son of the late Hope Larue Gale and Katherine Jackson Gale.He graduated Conway High School in 1951 and attended Clemson College for three years before joining the US Army, where he served for two years.While working in Washington DC, he graduated from Southeastern University with a BA in Business.He was a member since 1959 of Clemson IPTAY.Mr. Gale was a member of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church where he was active in the Methodist Men and Sunday School Administration.
Survivors include a daughter, Deanna Gale Bowen of Greenville SC; three sons, Michael Lee Gale of Easley SC, Charlie Dexter Gale of Greer SC and John Derrick Gale of Mauldin SC; six grandchildren also survive.Mr. Gale was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Hope Larue Gale Jr, Elmer Larry Gale and Thomas Luttrell Gale.
A memorial service will be Friday, July 26 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church with Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating.A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hartwell First United Methodist Church, 200 E.
