Mr. Emil Charles "Charlie" Higgins, 83, of Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital.

Born on November 26, 1938 in Baton Rouge LA, he was the son of the late Emil Charles Higgins Sr and Leslie Ross (DeFir) Higgins.  Mr. Higgins retired from International Paper Company after 35 years as a production manager.  He was an avid gardener and volunteered at the Hart County Clothes Closet and H.I.M.  He was also a member of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter: Holly Caswell (Jerry) of Hartwell; a son: Chad C. Higgins (Dell) of Columbia MO; four grandchildren: Jesse Ross Caswell, Alex Higgins (Hannah), Louis Higgins and John Ross Higgins and a great-grandchild: (parents are Alex & Hannah) Arthur Higgins.  Mr. Higgins was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife: Cherry Maye Holliday Higgins and his second wife: Myrtle Ann Godfrey Higgins.

A memorial service celebrating Mr. Charlie Higgins' life will be held at a future date to be announced at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hartwell First United Methodist Church Bowers Fund or to H.I.M., 200 E. Howell Street, Hartwell GA 30643.
