Mrs. Nora Christine Maddox Bowers, 96, of Hartwell, passed away Friday, October 17, 2025 peacefully at the home of her oldest son in Hartwell.

Born on April 8, 1929 in Griffin GA, she was the daughter of the late Rolfe Hunt Maddox and Sara Gradie Riggins Maddox.  Mrs. Bowers was a 7th Day Adventist, a former secretary for an Engineering Firm, a former employee of Dunlop of Hartwell (1973-1993) and a homemaker.

Mrs. Bowers was the wife of the late Farris Bowers of Hartwell, he was an E5 Staff Sargent in the United States Air Force, and they had been married for 56 years before he passed away in June of 2014. She was also preceded in death by a son: Glenn Bowers, who passed away in December of 2021; a granddaughter: Carolyn (Bowers) McClain, who passed away in November of 2009; three brothers: Jack, Jim & Jeff and four sisters: Louise, Margie, Rebecca and Jean.

Mrs. Bowers is survived by her three sons: Dwain Bowers (Karen) of Hartwell, Stephen Bowers (Wanda) of Anderson SC and Nathan Bowers (Donna) of Simpsonville SC; she leaves behind 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, including her special grandson: Chad Bowers, who helped care for her in her last days.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.  Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral services for Mrs. Christine Bowers will be Monday, October 20, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Mr. Fred Greenway officiating.  Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
