Mrs. Clara Ruth Hughes, 80, of 3166 Sycamore Rd, Royston, died Monday, July 15, 2013 at her home.

Born on October 2, 1932 in Royston, GA, she was the daughter of the late Louie Adams and Sarah Moore Adams.Mrs. Hughes was retired from Hartwell Mills and a member of Bowman Church of God.

Survivors include four sons, Harold Hughes Jr. of Pigeon Forge TN, Timothy Hughes and Michael Hughes both of Elberton and Mark Hughes of Hartwell; five daughters, Mona Ann Ballew of Elberton, Sandra Phillips of Royston, Gloria Chastain of Hartwell, Clara Elaine Dove of Elberton and Carol Beth Hughes of Bowman; two brothers: Calvin Adams and Lee Adams of Hodges, SC; twenty-two grandchildren, fifty-six great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Hughes, Sr.; one brother, Billy Ray Adams; two grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Stacey Lynch officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night.The family is at the home.
