Mr. Claude Robert Johnson, 99, of Fairview Ave, Hartwell, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Hartwell Health & Rehab., Hartwell.

Born on May 4, 1918 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Luke Garner Johnson and Leila Dickerson Johnson.Mr. Johnson was an auto body tech with Heaton Ford & Cleveland Ford, machine operator with Hartwell Co. and a final inspector with Wagon Wheel Van. He was also a member of the Flat Shoals Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, usher and member of the Brotherhood.

Survivors include two sons: Larry Johnson (Gail), Carroll Johnson (fiancée Fran Colquitt) all of Hartwell; one daughter: Lynda Varsallona (Angelo) of Lavonia; nine grandchildren: Robby Johnson, Lance Johnson, Sheri Walker, Rev. Ken Buffington, Chris Buffington, Jennifer Wright, Bart Johnson, Ben Johnson, Beth Martin; twenty eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild also survive.Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Connie Dockery Johnson; two brothers: Thomas Johnson, Julian Johnson; two sisters: Sara Cleveland and Emma Lou Johnson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with the Rev. Wendell Bannister, Rev. Ken Buffington, and Rev. Cory Pulliam officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening.The family is at the home. Flowers are optional, memorials may be made to the River of Life Church, 3966 Elberton Hwy., Hartwell, GA 30643.
