Mrs. Claudine Gunter Herring, 88, of Old 29 Hwy, Hartwell, died Monday, May 11, 2015 at Rainey Hospice House, Anderson, SC.

Born on January 8, 1927 in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Telford "Taft" Gunter and Icye Chastain Gunter.She was retired from Hartwell Mills and a member of the Oak Bower Baptist Church where she was a former pianist and organist.Mrs. Herring also was a member of the Nancy Hart Chapter 398 Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include one daughter: Lisa Baker and her husband Kevin; one grandson: Dawson Baker and special neighbors: Betty and Bill Allen. Mrs. Herring was preceded in death by her husband: Hugh E. "Jack" Herring.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Tommy Cleveland, Rev. Ray Black, and Rev. Doug Goss officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 Thursday prior to the service. The family is at the home of Mrs. Herring in the afternoon.
