Mrs. Katie Claudine Reed Marett, 80, of 168 Oakland Street, Hartwell, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC.

Born on June 5, 1932 in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Dawson Shirley Reed and Florence Katie Maret Reed.She was a homemaker and a member of Reed Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Stevie Marett of Hartwell; one sister, Joyce Suttles of Bowman; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Marett was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Alton Marett; one son, Dexter Marett; two daughters: Debra Carey and Peggy Carter; two brothers: Junior Reed and Guy Reed; two sisters: Lera Byrum and Mertis Lee; and one grandchild.

Graveside services will be Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Leon Suttles officiating.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.The family is at their respective homes.
