Clelland Alonza Tyson, age 79, of Lavonia, passed away Friday, November 6, 2020 at his home.
Born November 16, 1940, in Tifton, GA, he was the son of the late Lewis Clelland "LC" and Louise (Hale) Tyson. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a B. S. in Agriculture Engineering and worked as a land surveyor and was the owner of Tyson & Associates. He also managed a 100,000 bird broiler farm for many years and owned agriculture businesses that produced cattle feed, organic fertilizer, and cat litter. He retired from the US Army Reserve after more than thirty years, with the rank of Colonel. Mr. Tyson was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by son: Brian C. Tyson; grandchildren: Brandt Bartlett Tyson and Charles Andrew "Charlie" Tyson; sister: Jean Tyson; brothers: Ted Tyson and Paul Tyson; and a host of others family members and friends.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Brenda (Bartlett) Tyson; son: Stephen Bartlett "Bart" Tyson; and brother: Bobby Tyson.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2020 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. John Forbes officiating. A video of the service can be viewed on Clelland's tribute page at stricklandfh.com Monday evening. Although the family will not be present, Mr. Tyson will lie in state at the funeral home Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. for those wishing to pay their respects. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 250 Pleasant Grove Road Lavonia, GA 30553.
