Mr. Clifton Carl "Pete" Floyd, Jr., age 87, of Lavonia, died Monday, August 6, 2012 at his home.
Born April 30, 1925, in Hart County, he was the son of the late Clifton Carl Floyd, Sr. and Evie (Vaughn) Floyd. After his retirement from Milford Exxon, he owned and operated Ridgeview Feed. Mr. Floyd was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Rachel (Davis) Floyd; grandchildren: Calen Floyd and Dustin Lawrence; sisters: Mary Smith and Marjorie Cleveland; and great-grandchildren: William H. Floyd, John B. Floyd, and Jason M. Floyd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Tony L. Floyd; brother: Guy Floyd; and sister: Sara Nell Vickery.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Darby and Rev. Herb Snedden officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home.
