Clyde Allen, age 88, of Lavonia, passed away Tuesday morning, April 18, 2023 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital following an extended illness.

He was born March 11, 1935, in Franklin County, the son of the late Isaac "Ike" and Ada Harbin Allen. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church. He worked for a number of years at Schokbeton, before retiring from Milliken's Sibly Mills Plant after many years of service. Mr. Allen will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, caring friend, and kind gentleman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter: Sherry Allen Jones; son-in-law: David L. Jones; sister: Charlie Mae Campbell; and brothers: R. C. Allen and Odell Allen.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Ila Grant Allen; son & daughter-in-law: Craig & Tonya Allen; grandchildren: Chena Allen, Devonni Allen, Ashleigh Jones, David Jones, Jr., and Cory Allen; great-grandchildren: Devion Hayes, Bricent Allen, and Ethan Allen; and niece and nephew raised in the home: Debbie Grant and Jerry Grant.

The funeral service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2023 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia. A private burial will follow the service in Fairview Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
