Mr. Clyde J. Mumpower, 78, of Hartwell, died Friday, April 19 at Landmark Hospital, Athens GA.
Born on September 21, 1934 in Inman VA, he was the son of the late Jackson Summers Mumpower and Trula May Faulkner Mumpower.He retired from the U S Navy and Manning Brothers Food Equipment, where was a salesman.Mr. Mumpower was a former Dietitian for Hart County Hospital, a member of the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge # 690, where he was a Past Master; he was a Past Master of the 8th district, Grand Lodge of Georgia, a member of the Northside Baptist Church of Elberton and a Korean War and Vietnam War veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Shelvy Jean Davis Mumpower; a son, Bruce Mumpower and his wife Janice of Matthews NC; two daughters, Rebecca "Beckey" Mumpower and Marcella "Marcie" Campbell and her husband Joe of Hartwell; two sisters, Ann Kirby of Church Hill TN and Marcia Keef of Tunnel Hill IL; seven grandchildren, Allison Jean Bradford, Christopher Mumpower, Casey Sharpe, Danielle Mumpower, Scott Holcombe, Katie Bailey and Becky Jacobs; three great-grandchildren, Logan Tatum, Jackson Tatum and Joseph Bailey also survive.Mr. Mumpower was preceded in death by parents; sisters, Mary Gambill, Zula Butt, Lydia Bush and Lassie "Sis" Green and brothers, Bill Mumpower, Fred Mumpower and Paul "Bud" Mumpower.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Dr. F. Hugh Kirby officiating.Burial will be in the Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening.The family is at the home of Marcie & Joe Campbell, 432 Homestead Road, Hartwell GA 30643.
