Mrs. Cora Sue (Richardson) Burdette Whitlock, age 90, of Martin, died Monday, April 6, 2015 at Brown Nursing and Rehab in Royston.
Born October 5, 1924, in Oconee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Carrie (Bramlett) Richardson. She worked for a time as a nurse for Dr. Williams and later owned and operated Burdette's Grocery with her husband. Mrs. Whitlock was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands: Walter Burdette and J. V. Whitlock, Sr.; son: Billy Burdette; grandson: Richie Chastain; great-grandson: Tylan Caudell; sisters: Annie Wiseman and Mildred Echols; and brothers: Winford Richardson and Edward Richardson.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Betty and Carter Chastain and Becky and Leslie Caudell; daughter-in-law: Nita Burdette; stepchildren: Lois Whitlock, J. V. Whitlock, Winston Whitlock, Joe Whitlock, Grady Whitlock, and Robert Whitlock; sister: Shelby Jean Campbell; grandchildren: Shane Caudell, Rocky Caudell, and Jamie Burdette; great-grandchildren: Chaniyah Caudell, Kelan Caudell, Dalton Caudell, Colt Caudell, Heather Chastain, Courtney Chastain, and Megan Cobb; great-great-grandchild: Obadiah Chastain; and special caregiver: Tonya Williams.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Chuck Burnette officiating. The family will be at their respective homes.
