Mrs. Coven O'Barr Bailey, affectionally known as "Ma Bailey", age103, of 5305 Mt. Olivet Road, Lavonia, GA, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Rainey Hospice House, Anderson, SC.

Born December 2, 1904 in Hart County, GA, she was the daughter of the late William Crate O'Barr and Josie Patterson O'Barr.She was a homemaker; a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Willing Workers Sunday School Class, Forever Young Group and the WMU.The Coven Bailey Sunday School Class was recently established in her honor.She was selected Hart County Mother of the Year in 1998.

She is survived by: Son, Beverly "Brother" Bailey of Hartwell, GA; Daughters, Launa Webb of Hartwell, GA, Inez Holden of Mechanicsville, VA, Billie Dean Hembree of High Point, NC, Betty Crump of Hartwell, GA and Rosa Hicks of Hartwell, GA; Eleven grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and fifteen great great grandchildren also survive.She is preceded in death by her Parents; Husband, Dock Bailey; Daughter, Jo Ann Prickett; Grandson, Ronnie Freeman; Brothers, Bill O'Barr and Vivian O'Barr; Sisters, Myrt Welborn and Ferrel Dean Welborn.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.Rev. Joe Black, Mr. Fred Greenway and Rev. Scott Mize will officiate.Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 – 8:00 p.m.The family is at the home.Flowers are optional; Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC29621 or to Mt.
