Mrs. Daisy Herring Reed, age 76, of Lavonia, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Brown Memorial Convalescent Center.
Born November 26, 1932, in Hart County, she was a clerk and a homemaker. She was a former Sunday school teacher and superintendent of bible school for many years. Mrs. Reed was of the Presbyterian faith. She was honored as one of the top women of Franklin County by the folk life play Land of Spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents: J. C. & Effie (Feltman) Herring; and brothers: Sammy Herring & Jerry Herring.
Survivors include husband Louie Reed; sons: Mike Reed & Pat of Canon, John Reed & Patti of Athens, & Don Reed & Kim of Lavonia; brother: J. L. Herring of Hartwell; sisters: Dora Moore of Canon, Lillie Mae Wilson of Star, SC, Betty Stone of Hartwell, and Barbara Jones of Hartwell; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2008 at the Lavonia Presbyterian Church with Rev. Scarlette Bostick officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lavonia Presbyterian Church, 5610 Vickery Street, Lavonia, GA 30553 or the charity of one's choice.
