Mrs. Daisy Madeline Brown Vickery, 83, of Hartwell, went home to be with Jesus, surrounded by family on September 16, 2011 at her home.
Born on October 16, 1927 she is the daughter of the late Byrd C. Brown and Edna Gunter Brown of Hartwell, GA.She graduated from Hartwell High School in 1944.She retired from Newton Mills where she worked in textiles.She was a homemaker, Emeritus member of the Nancy Hart Order of the Eastern Star # 398 and a member of Sardis Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for more than fifty years, and loved singing in the choir.
She is survived by her husband: Ralph J. Vickery to whom she has been married since December 6, 1946; one son: Terrel L. Vickery and his wife, Donna C. Vickery; four grandchildren: Gina (Alan) Tolbert, Angie (Kevin) Rowland, Chris (Amber) Vickery, Leigh Ann (Josh) Pilgrim; and six great grandchildren: Madeline Tolbert, Justin Rowland, Luke Rowland, Elijah Vickery, Jesse Adams, and Abel Pilgrim; two sisters: Virginia Majeski of Hartwell, and Ophelia Peek of Atlanta.Extended family include: Doug & June Hilley, Wendell & Emily Brown, Sybil Hembree, Shane & Lori Sisk and family, J.D. & Helen Moon, and Judy Wilson.Mrs. Vickery is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: W. Cranfill Brown and R.L. Brown; three sisters: Ann Holt, Barbara Dickson, and Ruby Nell Barger.
"Daisy May" was a loving wife who dedicated the last 21 years of her life taking care of her husband Ralph who had suffered a stroke.She was a beautiful mother, who cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly.She is a devout Christian who lived by, and loves Our Lord, Jesus Christ.She was a true Southern Belle who lived by her morals and values and instilled them in anyone she met.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. John Silver and Rev. Janice Loggins officiating.Burial will follow in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.
