Mr. Dale Byrum, 90, of Vickery Street, Hartwell, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Capstone Rehab, Easley, SC.

Born on January 6, 1927 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the Johnny Samuel Byrum Sr. and Quillie Belle McLane Byrum.Mr. Byrum was retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers, former City of Hartwell volunteer fireman and a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. He also was a member of the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge #690 for over 60 years. Mr. Byrum was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.Mr. Byrum was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Sara Brown Byrum and one brother: J.S. Byrum, Jr.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Joe Black officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday prior to the service.The family is at their respective homes.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 2973 Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell, GA30643.
