Major Daniel Wordsworth Reyen, U.S. Army Retired, 68, of 4074 Anderson Hwy. Hartwell, peacefully passed away,Saturday, November 16, 2013 at his home.
Born on January 8, 1945 in New York State, he was the son of the late Wordsworth and Norma Jean Reyen.Mr. Reyen was a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point; Georgia Tech and Clemson University.He was the Owner / Operator of Pet Villa of Hartwell and was serving in his third term as District 2 commissioner, Hart County Board of Commissioners.Mr. Reyen served on the Hart County Industrial Authority, Food Co Op and was on the board of directors for the Harmony House.He was a member of the American Legion Post #109 and the Hart County Golden K.Mr. Reyen was retired from the U.S. Army, where he served for 20 years and was a Vietnam War Veteran.
Survivors include his special friend and companion, Sherry Lawrence of Hartwell and a son, Benjamin F. Fargo of Indianapolis IN.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. John Silver, Rev. Carter Tucker and Rev. R.C. Oglesby officiating.Burial with full military honors will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
