Obituary

Mr. David Alan Buddenbaum, 53, of Pristine Cove, Hartwell, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023 at St. Mary's Hospital in Lavonia, GA.

Born on November 25, 1969 in Portland, OR, he was the son of Warren Buddenbaum and Judy Mitchell Buddenbaum. David started his education on a golf scholarship at Ball State where he completed his bachelor, and he received his masters at Walden University and specialist at Lincoln University. David began his career in Rockdale County at Shoal Creek Elementary as a second grade teacher. David continued his career as an IT tech at Shoal Creek and Honey Creek Elementary, Assistant Principal at Honey Creek and Sims Elementary before moving to Hartwell to become the Principal at North Hart Elementary followed by Hart County Middle School. David made his final career change to the Hartwell Board of Education as their Assistant Superintendent before retiring in 2022. While serving in education some of his most proud accomplishments included the Buddenbaum STEAM Showcase in Hart County, coaching volleyball, basketball and golf, becoming the founder of Crush volleyball club and being a member on the Chamber of Commerce in Hart County.

Survivors include his parents: Warren and Judy Buddenbaum of Indianapolis, IN; his wife: Laura Skinner Buddenbaum of Hartwell; two daughters: Jaca Buddenbaum of Conyers, GA, and Katlyn Reynolds of Smyrna, GA; two sons: Andrew Reynolds of Acworth, GA, and Wesley Reynolds of Hartwell; brother: Don Buddenbaum of Raleigh, NC; sister: Kate Novak (Mark) of Carmel, IN; and one grandchild: Delilah Reynolds.

The family will receive friends Sunday, August 20, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church.  Other times the family will be at the home.

Mr. David Buddenbaum wished to be cremated and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held Sunday, August 20, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church. A reception will follow the service.

Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the One Hartbeat Foundation, 284 Campbell Dr, Hartwell, GA 30643.

The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
