Obituary

"Live Life to the Fullest and Make a Difference Along the Way".  That one verse described David Campbell perfectly.  David is rejoicing with the Lord after passing away at his home on Friday, November 1st, 2024.  David, a lifelong resident of Hart County, always lived life to the fullest despite his too soon death.  He was always thoughtful, and helpful to anyone in need. David was quick-witted and was always trying to make someone laugh.  He had an infectious smile that would form with every giggle. David was Baptist by faith and was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.

David was always handy with tools and machines.  As a young man he would often help his dad on the farm with tractor equipment. He was a 1980 Graduate of Hart County High School.  Shortly after graduating he put his skills with machines into action. His knowledge led him to a career at Monroe, where he quickly moved up the ranks. He thoroughly enjoyed his time at Monroe. He was able to travel to foreign countries for training sessions, which was a great experience for him. He met and remained friends with many people he had worked with.

After leaving Monroe, David started his own business called Goldmine Grading. He purchased several pieces of heavy equipment and was finally his own boss.  His favorite piece of equipment was a bulldozer.  He often spent hours on this massive steel machine, grading home sites, land for chicken houses, or cleaning up after a bad storm. He would bring along his nephew to teach him the tricks of the trade.

David was very close to his family.  The family would have lunch every Sunday after church where he enjoyed spending time jovially spouting words of wit at his 5 brothers and sister. After lunch, He would often pull out his toolbox to help rescue their mechanical needs, working on whatever machine was causing trouble at the time.  He was always a good brother and son to them all.

David was also the ultimate football fan. Although he enjoyed watching the sport on TV no matter who was playing, he would always try to catch the Georgia Bulldogs game. The team he loved the most, however, was none other than the hometown Hart County Bulldogs.  This was a hobby he would often share with his late sister, Ann. You could almost always find the two of them, decked out in orange and black, supporting the team, at the Friday night games whether the team was playing at home or away.

David is preceded in death by his mother and father Mary Imogene "Jean" Kay Campbell and Frank Lee Campbell and his sister Ann Elizabeth Campbell.

He is survived by his brothers: Larry Campbell, Donnie Campbell (Libby), Mike Campbell, Gary Campbell (Chyrel) and John Campbell (Stephanie).  Nieces Amanda Lack and Tamra Lack (Dillon).  Nephews Lee Campbell, Chris Campbell (Destiny), and Hunter Partain. 2 great nieces and 4 great nephews (+ 1 on the way).

David would want everyone to know: "If I should die before the rest of you, break not a flower nor inscribe a stone. Nor when I am gone, speak in a Sunday voice, but be the usual selves that I have known. Weep if you must, as parting is hard. But life goes on, so SING as well. You will be missed brother and friend.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell to share memories and stories.
