Debra Sue Scarola Phillips, age 71, of Lavonia, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2025, at her home.

Born December 26, 1953, in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Fred Anthony Scarola and Yvonne Nathalie Brosgarth. She held a Bachelor of Arts degree and before retirement worked as a teacher for Anderson Christian School. She was a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church, Tugaloo Art Guild and Al Anon of Seneca, & Heart Ministries through Lavonia First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband: Bruce George Phillips; daughter & son-in-law: Bonnie Andrina & Joey Neptune; son & daughter-in-law: Mark Donald & Nikki Phillips; grandson: Isaac Bruce Phillips; sister & brother-in-law: Kathi & Greg Miles; brother & sister-in-law: Rick & Lynn Scarola;

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Chris Chitwood and  Dr. Larry Finger officiating. A private family burial will follow in the Lavonia City-Burgess Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
