Obituary
Ms. Denise Hicks Kern, 56, of 377 Orchard Road, Canon, GA, died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at her home.
Born on July 5, 1956, she was the daughter of the late John Bogard Hicks and Glenda Contway Hicks.She was a graduate of Hart County High School with advanced training in nursing.She worked as an LPN at Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her fiancée, David Green of Canon; her brother J. Trent Hicks and his wife Lynda of Cary, NC; two nieces: Wendy Lyn Manner and Carey Jennifer Jaquez. Ms. Kern was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services will be Friday, June 21, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Pastor Frank Owens officiating.The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, special memorials may be made to the Hart County Humane Society, PO Box 1062, Hartwell, GA30643 or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Association, 531 S. Main Street, Suite M17, Greenville, SC29601.
