Mr. Dexter Eugene Boggs, age 71, of Lavonia died Monday, December 28, 2015 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born August 1, 1944, in East Liverpool, OH he was the son of Helen Frances (Tice) Matthews and the late Thomas Madison Boggs. He was a veteran of the US Army, where he retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. He also retired from Corporate Express as safety coordinator. Mr. Boggs was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children: Michael Boggs, David Mobley, Pat Pike, and Ronald Boggs; nephew: Danny Boggs, Jr.; and grandchildren: Jeremy Hayes, David Aderhold, Jennifer Pike, Dylan Barnes, and Wade Mobley. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife: Lawana Dale (Nation) Boggs); daughter: Dana Aderhold; brother: Danny Boggs; and grandson: Timothy Aderhold.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2015 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Brown officiating. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
