Mr. Dexter Earl Smith, age 56 of 59 Wood Lane, Hartwell, Ga., died July 10, 2009 at his home.
Born August 14, 1952 in Fulton County, he was the son of Otis Smith of Hartwell, Ga.
He was a mechanic with the Hart County Maintenance Shop and member of Woodland Hills Church in Atlanta.
He is survived by: his father, wife, Betty Fleming Smith of the home, sons, Steven Earl Smith, Joshua Adam Smith and Max Lee Smith all of Hartwell, Ga., brother, Alfred Ray Smith of Hartwell, Ga. He was preceded in death by his mother, Imogene B. Smith.
No services are planned. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at Strickland Funeral Home - Hartwell Chapel. The family will be at the home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1720 Epps Bridge Parkway, Suite 108-383, Athens, Ga.
