Obituary

Carolyn Dianne Snow Forbes passed away on February 11, 2025, at the age of 71. She was a member of Woodlawn Park Baptist Church in Mullins, SC. Dianne was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in July of 1953 to Annie Kate Langston Snow and Albert Lindsey Snow.

Dianne was the youngest of five children. She was adored by her older siblings from the very beginning of her life, due to her gentle spirit and her kindness. Dianne had three sisters and a brother, and we loved to play pick up sticks, marbles, jacks and riding our bicycles together. Dianne was a peace maker among the five siblings. Dianne's greatest joy was leading others to Christ at an early age. As a teenager, she had many friends in high school, and she was a star on the basketball team. She would later in life tell her twin sisters that she was known in high school as the Snow twins' sister. The twins found that hard to believe because Dianne was a star in her own right. Dianne was not just a sister, she was a great friend and a great listener, and her presence on earth will be greatly missed. – Linda Dodson, Sister

The Snow family shared many memories of childhood together playing hopscotch, pickup sticks, jacks, old maid, sorry, baby dolls, hula hoop, and many more. They were best friends and always had each other to lean on. Dianne was always there to listen and always had the sweetest prayers. The friendship continued into adulthood always loving and caring for each other. We loved her children as our own. She was the best sister with the most beautiful smile. Our memories of her will live on forever. – Brenda Jones, Sister

Dianne attended North Clayton High School and Mercer University (Atlanta). In the summer of 1974, while working at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, she met John Forbes, and the rest was happily ever after. The two married in October of that year and settled in Suffolk, Virginia.

Upon moving back to Georgia, she had a son, John David Forbes Jr., in January of 1979, and a daughter Sarah Kate Forbes, in November of 1980. She worked as a stay-at-home mother, reading to her children and teaching them songs and Bible verses. She was a wonderful mother and never missed an opportunity to support her children's games, recitals, or concerts. For over 40 years Dianne was a pastor's wife. She devoted herself to serving others through Bible study, teaching, and prayer. Dianne's legacy is found in her kindness, gentle spirit, and faith in Jesus.

She leaves behind her husband, Rev. John David Forbes; her daughter Sarah Kate Forbes Bakhtiyar and son-in-law, Payman Bakhtiyar; and her adored grandchildren, Soraya Kate Bakhtiyar and Callen Forbes Bakhtiyar. Dianne is also survived by her siblings, Jimmy Snow (Gail), Brenda Jones (Larry), and Linda Dodson (Alto) and nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents Albert Lindsey Snow and Annie Kate Langston Snow, she was preceded in death by her son, John David Forbes, Jr., and her sister, Mary Henson.
