Mr. Don Ferrell Gentry, age 71, of Lavonia, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at Landmark Hospital in Athens.
Born December 13, 1945, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Roy and Dorothy (Manley) Gentry. Prior to retirement, he worked for more than twenty years with Milliken and AutoZone for more than ten years. He was of the Church of God faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother: Robbie Gentry; and sister: Linda Shackelford.
Mr. Gentry is survived by his wife: Carolyn (Coker) Gentry; daughter: Melissa Gentry; daughter and son-in-law: Donna and Harold Teasley; son and daughter-in-law: Michael and Melodie Gentry; sister: Joanne Vaughn; and grandchildren: Kade Gentry and Kassidie Gentry.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Finger officiating. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City Burgess Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home of Michael and Melodie Gentry.
