Mr. Donald Royce Buffington, 76, of Pineview Lane, Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at his home.
Born on February 21, 1944 in Lavonia, GA, he was the son of the late Charlie Buffington and Mary Lou Withers Buffington.Mr. Buffington was retired from Milliken/Sibley Mill and a member of Providence United Methodist Church. Mr. Buffington was an avid golfer, bowler, farmer, fisherman, as well as a race car fan and loved spending time with his grandkids & family. He was also a Basketball Coach and Little League Umpire Mr. Buffington also served in the US Army Reserves.
Survivors include his two sons: Chris Buffington (Sheri) and Ken Buffington (Katie), all of Lavonia; a daughter: Jennifer Wright (Jimmy) of Greenwood, SC; a sister: Karen Stovall of Lavonia; twelve grandchildren: Caleb Wright, Presley Wright, Savannah Wright, Sam Wright, Abby Wright, Nathan Buffington (Skylar Toth), Chase Buffington (Ariane), Chad Buffington (Heather Starrett), Tori Buffington, Makenzie Buffington, Gabrielle Buffington, and Ava Buffington; and five great grandchildren: Brylee Buffington, Brensley Buffington, Madden Buffington, Cooper Reynolds, and Rylee Fleeman. Mr. Buffington was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: David Buffington; two sisters: Joy Franks and Sandra Bailey; and one grandchild: Hannah Buffington.
Because of the current conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, the family will not be having a formal visitation.They ask that everyone keep them in their thoughts and prayers in the coming days and weeks.
Donald will lie in state at the Strickland Funeral of Hartwell from 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Friday for anyone to come by and pay their respects.Also anyone can leave their condolences and best wishes on Donald's Tribute page.
Graveside services for Mr. Donald Buffington will be held Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Providence UMC Cemetery with Rev. Ken Buffington, Rev. Doug Brown, and Rev. Richard Huycke officiating.Everyone will be asked to practice Social Distancing and may want to bring a lawn chair or is welcome to remain in their vehicles.
