Obituary

Mr. Donald Dee "Don" Canady, age 71, of Lavonia, died Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born July 26, 1943, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Jim and Bonnie Sue (Fulbright) Canady. He retired from Duke Power. He was a member of the Lavonia City Council and a retired firefighter with the Lavonia Fire Department. Mr. Canady was a member of the Lavonia United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Cleo McFarland; and brothers: David Canady and Dennis Canady.
He is survived by his daughter: Yvette Hood; daughter and son-in-law: Michelle and Kevin Roach; son: Greg Canady; grandchildren: Josh Canady, Laura Eavenson, Kayla Canady, Eli Roach, and Sam Roach; and great-grandchildren: Noah Canady and Jacob Canady.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Massengill officiating. A private burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home of Yvette Hood. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the Lavonia United Methodist Church P.O. Box 146 Lavonia, GA 30553in memory of Mr. Canady for the food bank.
