Mr. Hugh Donald Davis, age 74, of Lavonia, died Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at his home following an extended illness.
Born February 14, 1938, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Hubert and Bonnie Ruth (Vaughn) Davis. He was a veteran of the US Army Reserves. He retired as an Enforcement Officer with the Georgia Department of Transportation. Mr. Davis was a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife: Dot Ballenger Davis; step-children: Lisa & Danny Mabry, Ricky & Bobbie Ballenger, and Tina Pitts; brother: Harry Davis; sister: Linda Doker; six step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law: Mildred Davis.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Finger officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours, the family will be at the home.
