Mr. Bennie Don "Donnie" Reid, age 67, of Lavonia, died Monday, November 19, 2012 at Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center.
Born January 25, 1945, in Royston, he was the son of Mary Elizabeth (Cantrell) Reid and the late Bennie Reid. He worked at NVF Corporation in Hartwell and served in the US Army National Guard. He was of the Church of God faith.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife: Carole (Beebe) Reid; sons: Shannon Reid and Jason Reid; step-children: Krystal Fitzpatrick, Dawn Vickery, Kimberly Young, and Jason Macomson; sister: Eleanor Feltman; brothers: Rev. Keith Reid and Terry Reid; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son: Brandon Reid.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Gettis Allen and Mr. Larry Ford officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours, the family will be at the home of Krystal and Garland Fitzpatrick.
