Mrs. Doris Madden Marett, 97, of Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at her home.

Born on February 25, 1925 in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the Daniel Edgar Madden and Effie Agnes Wright Madden. Mrs. Marett was a former line supervisor for the Hartwell Garment Company, and she was a member of the Reed Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was a former training union director, and a member of the Golden Agers. She was also a former secretary for the Hart County Genealogical Society. Doris loved to read, travel, and sew as she was a very good seamstress.

Survivors include her son: Robert "Bob" Marett of Woodstock, GA; daughter: Nancy M. Saylors of Hartwell; and ten grandchildren: Tracie Poole (Tom), Angie Weaver (Donald), Kristy McBride (Randall), Tommy Marett (Jolynn), Beth Lail (Shoan), Eddie Marett (Sara Uhler), Marty Marett (Leni), Laura Marett, Danny Marett, and Glen Saylors (Phoebe). Thirteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Marett is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: William Thomas Marett; son: Bill Marett; brothers: Curtis Madden and Dan Madden Jr.; and sisters: Virginia Russell Ihle and Sara Alice Moorhead.

The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.  Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Marett will be held Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Jason Webb officiating.  Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
