Mrs. Dorothy Allen "Nanny Dot" Burden, age 74, of Royston, died Friday, May 21, 2010 at her home.
Born January 26, 1936, in Lavonia, she was the daughter of the late George & Lorene (Chitwood) Allen. She was a homemaker and of the holiness faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter: Dottie Pearson; granddaughter: Nikki Pickens; brothers: Charles Allen, Leonard Allen, & Henry Allen; and a sister: Jessie Mae Mays.
Survivors include her daughter & son-in-law: Janice & Mike Bolemon; sons and daughters-in-law: James & Gwen Pickens and Ronnie & Brenda Pickens; grandchildren: Donnie Bolemon, Tina Jones, Jamie Hollis, Christie Martin, Tim Pickens, Steven Pearson, Amy Quarles, April Anderson, Brooke Elrod, Brittni Pickens, Steven Norris, Stoney Lee Norris, & Shandy Hopkins; sisters: Frances Chastain, Barbara Allen, Peggy White, Patsy Turnbull, Diane Brown, & Alice Thornton; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2010 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Stowe & Rev. Rodney Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Gettis Allen officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home.
