Mrs. Dorothy S. Whitworth Weldon, 85, of 261 Fairview Avenue, Hartwell, formerly of Bowersville, GA, died Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Hart Care Center.

Surviving is son, Joe W. Weldon of Marietta, GA.She was preceded in death by her late husband, Julius A. Weldon, who was married for 62 years; Brother, Bobby Joe Whitworth, and a sister Elizabeth who died in infancy.She is also survived by many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Mrs. Weldon worked for 20 years for the Department of Agriculture, ASCA (Agriculture Stabilization Conversation Service) as a Clerk.Mrs. Weldon spent her life doing and giving to others.She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church where she was a member of WMU, Encouragers Sunday School Class, and Mollie Williams Missionary Group.She was a member of Order of Eastern Star #398 for over 50 years.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cross Roads Baptist Church.Rev. Connie Mack Bowers and Rev. Doug Brown will officiate.Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. prior to the service.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Saturday night from 6 – 9:00 p.m.The family is at the home of Sara S.
