Mrs. Dorothy Taylor Dowdy, age 76, of Lavonia, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born June 13, 1934 in Pickens County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Bud and Belle Williams Taylor. Mrs. Dowdy was an operator with the Milliken Company in Martin. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Lavonia.
She is survived by her son: Donald Dowdy; daughter: Carol Hornick; brothers: Howard Taylor, David Taylor, William Taylor, & Charles Taylor; sisters: Mildred Rowland & Martha Scruggs; 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Franklin Memorial Gardens - North
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday.Flowers are optional or memorial may be made to help defray the cost of the funeral service.
