Mrs. Dorothy Ellen (Manley) Gentry, age 90, of Lavonia, died Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Hartwell Health Care.
Born November 24, 1921 in Franklin County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Frank & Nora Icey (Crawford) Manley. She was employed with Lavonia Manufacturing Company and was a member of Lavonia Church of God.
She is survived by daughters: Joanne Vaughn and Linda Shackelford both of Lavonia; son: Don Gentry of Lavonia; grandchildren: Debbie Richey, Ann Thurman, Jackie Jones, Daphne Shackelford, Ronnie Vaughn, Lisa Kelly, Mark Vaughn, Mitch Vaughn, Rusty Vaughn, Donna Gentry, Melissa Gentry, & Michael Gentry; 23 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, 8 great-great-great grandchildren and sister: Frances Vaughn.
Mrs. Gentry was preceded in death by her parents and husband: Roy Gentry; son: Robbie Gentry; granddaughter: Regina Vaughn; great granddaughters: Melissa Danner & Katie Richey; sisters: Bertie Smith & Josie Crider; and brother: Bud Manley.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Mr. Tim Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.At others times the family will be at the home of Debbie Richey 130 Whitworth Terrace Lavonia.
