Mrs. Dorothy Fowkes Sisson, 90, of Pine Tree Trace, Lavonia, died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at her home.

Born on June 6, 1924 in Washington DC, she was the daughter of the late Roy Talford Fowkes and Lura Jennette Campbell Fowkes. She was retired from the Navy Surface Warfare Center.Mrs. Sisson was a member of the Hartwell First Methodist Church, Sojourners and served on various committees.

Survivors include her two sons: Robert Wayne Sisson and his wife Jodi of Virginia Beach, VA and Glen Earl Sisson I of Lavonia GA; a daughter: Holly Lynn Sisson of Fruitland Park, FL; four sisters: Ruth Nicholas of Harrisburg, PA, Lura Roehl, of Lake Ridge, VA, Jean Chandler, Rochester, NY, Martha Stovall of Jacksonville, FL; two half-sisters: Marilyn Stadler of Elkridge, MD, Joanne Verdin of Colonial Beach, VA; three grandchildren: Glen Earl Sisson II, Gabriel Elias Sisson and Caitlin Maire McKenzie and her husband Daniel Scott McKenzie also survive.Mrs. Sisson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Earl S. Sisson and a daughter: Judy Ellen Sisson.


A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church with Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating.A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.

The body will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, where the family will receive friends until the funeral hour.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hartwell First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Howell Street, Hartwell GA 30643.
