Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" (Harris) Vaughn, age 90, of Lavonia, died Saturday, November 2, 2013 at her home.
Born August 16, 1923, she was the daughter of the late J. D. & Dollie Mae (Buffington) Harris. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Jack Vaughn; sisters: Mildred Lacy, Josephine Vaughn, and Janet Hamby; and brothers: J.D. Harris, Jr., J. C. Harris, and Robert Harris.
She is survived by son & daughter-in-law: Jack & Judy Vaughn; son: Steve Vaughn; sisters: Elene Crider, Ruth Thomas, and Alice Mullennix; brother: David Harris; grandchildren: Tiffany Vaughn, Kelly Wills, & Scott Vaughn; 6 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. John Forbes and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home. Flowers are optional or the family requests memorials may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Youth Fund, 250 Pleasant Grove Road, Lavonia, GA 30553.
