Obituary
Mr. Dorsey L. Ricks, 68, of 860 Speedway Road, Hartwell, died Thursday, March 3, 2011 at his home.
Born on February 21, 1943 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late John S. Ricks and Lorene Evans Ricks. He was a former supervisor at Franklin Minerals and a former Sergeant for the US Army.
He is survived by his wife Nell Ricks; three sons: Jeffery Ricks of Hartwell, Nathan Ricks of Hartwell, and Shane Ricks of Hartwell; one daughter: Tracey Bates of Hartwell; three brothers: Johnny Ricks of Anderson, SC, David Ricks of Louisville, KY, and Mark Ricks of Hartwell; four sisters: Opal McDowell of Hartwell, Berta Lee Reed of Hartwell, Sara Alice Fleming of Hartwell, and Catherine Woodall of Anderson; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Mr. Ricks was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be Sunday, March 6, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Stowe officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family requests no flowers.The family is at the home.
