Mrs. Dorthy Dutton Blackwell King, age 94, of Lavonia, died Saturday, April 2, 2011 at her home.
Born June 24, 1916, in Elbert County, she was the daughter of the late Garrison and Gussie McCall Dutton. She was a homemaker and was of the Church of God faith.
She is survived by sons & daughters-in-law: Herman & Becky Blackwell of NC & Thurman & Nancy Blackwell of Belton, SC; son: Leonard Blackwell of NC; daughter & son-in-law: Sue & Gerald Tiller of Anderson, SC; daughters: Nellie Smith of Anderson, SC & Gail Whitfield of Lavonia; step sons & daughters-in-law: Leonard & Diane King & Cecil & Beverly King; 68 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren, & 2 great-great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two husbands: Claudie Lee Blackwell & Walter King; son: Chester Blackwell and sisters: Carolyn Grein, Annie Bell Aldrich, Martha Jo Smith, & Willie France Blackwell.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Hubert Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home.
