Dorothy Hall Marett, 91, passed away July 5, 2016, at Athens Regional Hospital following a brief illness.She was surrounded in her last days by her large and loving family of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Dot was the beloved wife of Harry Morris Marett for 59 years until his death in 2005.A lifelong Hartwell resident, she was born September 3, 1924, the daughter of Fannie Lou Hall.
Dot was a proud employee of the Georgia Power Company in Hartwell where she worked for many years as a Customer Service Representative.She retired when she felt the call to come home to care for her adored mother, Fannie Lou Hall, and her aunt Ina, and uncle Hobson Hall.She was deeply devoted to their care until their deaths.
After retirement, Dot remained active in the Women of Georgia Power and in the Hartwell First Baptist Church as a longtime member of the Ruth Class.She enjoyed the companionship of her precious chihuahua, Skipper, and she took trips to Mexico and to Israel.
Dot was a beautiful and elegant woman, adored wife, beloved daughter, treasured aunt and dear friend.The hallmark of her life was her devotion to others.She never forgot a friend or family members' birthday, anniversary, or graduation.She celebrated every milestone and sympathized with every challenge.
Dot was predeceased by her husband, Harry Morris Marett, her mother Fannie Lou Hall and her uncle Hobson Hall.

Marett of Hartwell, Georgia; Her nephews:Walter William Marett, Jr. (Linda) of Roswell, Georgia; Walter James Gordon (Pam) of Hartwell, Georgia; Dr. John L. Gordon (Candy) of Perth, Australia; William Joseph Marett, Jr. (Patricia) of Nashville, Tennessee; Wayne Allen Smalley (Janet) of Walhalla, South Carolina; Mike Marett (Charlotte) of St. Augustine, Florida; Danny Marett (Danese) of North Carolina; Bill Marett (Margaret) of Wilmington, North Carolina; her nieces:Elaine Marett Gordon (Robert Hurley) of Raleigh, North Carolina; Nonnie Dilworth Marett of Gainesville, Georgia; and a host of cousins.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 8, 2016, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with the Rev. Carter Tucker and Dr. Steve Albanese officiating.Burial will be in the Milltown Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.The family is at their respective homes.
