Douglas Dean Casey, age 87, of Lavonia, passed away Friday, March 25, 2022, at his home.
Born March 23, 1935, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late John Erastus "Pete" Casey and Lethia (Cole) Casey. Doug graduated from Hart County School and he served in the United States Army. He worked for Monroe Automotive for more than 23 years and was a lifelong farmer.Doug and Mary were married on September 1, 1961. He loved Jesus, his wife Mary of 60 years, his daughters, grandchildren, and all of his family.
Mr. Casey traveled to many different churches, where he ministered in speaking and song. He was a member of the Carnesville Church of God. He was an avid outdoors man who loved to fish and hunt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: T. J. Childs; and sisters: Sue Seymour and Mildred Thomas.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Mary Ellen (Monroe) Casey; daughter: Dena Sinha & Radha Sinha; daughter & son-in-law: Christy & Jeff Tallent; grandchildren: Lexie Tallent, Mikena Sinha, Eli Sinha, and Casey Tallent.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2022 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Gary Ledford officiating. Entombment will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Carnesville Church of God Building Fund, 10094 Lavonia Rd, Carnesville, GA 30521.
