Paul "Duane" Edmisten of Carnesville, GA passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 after a brief illness. Duane was born on September 25, 1941 in Beech Creek, NC. Duane is preceded in death by his wife Runelle Edmisten, parents Paul and Lena Edmisten, sister Mildred Cornett, and identical twin brother Lane Edmisten. He is survived by his children Tod and Gloria Edmisten, Shane and Michelle Edmisten, and Jady Edmisten, all of Carnesville, GA. He is survived by his brother Phil Edmisten of Sugar Grove, NC, his grandchildren McKenzie Edmisten of Panama City, FL, Katelyn Edmisten of Carnesville, GA, Dakota Groover of Alpharetta, and special friend Sue Williams of Carnesville, GA.

Duane is a graduate of Cranberry High School in Newland, NC and a US Army Veteran. He moved to Georgia after being honorably discharged from the Army while working on a construction crew building I-85 in Buford. While working in Buford he met his wife Runelle and began a 30-year career at General Motors in Doraville, GA. After retiring from GM in 1991, Duane and Runelle moved to the family farm in Beech Creek, NC until the grandkids were born. They then decided it was time to return to GA to be with their kids and granddaughters.

Duane was a Free Mason and a member of Buford Masonic Lodge #292 F&AM. Duane was a founding member of Truth Fellowship in Carnesville, GA and loved telling people about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Truth Fellowship in Carnesville, GA, Samaritan's Purse in Boone, NC or Shriners Childrens Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2023 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Jerome Hill officiating.
