Rev. Duane R. Holcombe, age 87, of Canon, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at his home, following an extended illness.

He was born June 30, 1935, in Birmingham, AL, son of Hermus Holcombe and Edith Hand. He graduated from Thompson High School in Alabaster, AL. He was committed to his Christian faith and was a much-loved pastor for more than sixty years, in churches across the Southeastern United States in Assemblies of God and Pentecostal Holiness congregations. Rev. Holcombe was an avid hunter and fisherman, and an excellent carpenter and pianist.

He was preceded in death by his father: Hermus Holcombe; mother & step-father: Edith & Frank Morgan; his beloved wife: Dr. Joan R. Holcombe; brother: Gary Holcombe; and sister: Yvonne Davis.

He is survived by his daughters: Karen Bracken and Teresa Holcombe; son: Kevin Holcombe & wife Janice; grandchildren: Kevin Holcombe Jr, Aubrey Holcombe, Patrick Bracken, Brodie Bracken, Summer Granado, Michael Granado, Jared Johnson (Brittany), and James Johnson; great-grandchildren: Georgia Giles, Sheila Johnson; brother: Dalwyn Holcombe; and sister: Sharon Key.

A private burial was held in the Lavonia City – Burgess Cemetery. The family will plan a memorial service at a later date.
