Mr. Dwain Edwin Gurley, age 82 of 4038 Bowersville Highway, Bowersville, Ga., diedWednesday, November 19, 2008 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, S.C.

Born August 9, 1926 in Hart County he was the son of the late Lee L. Gurley and Madge P. Whitworth Gurley. He was a farmer and auto mechanic and he retired from the Monroe Auto Equipment Company with 32 years of service. He was a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church and the Jule Weldon Sunday School Class. Mr. Gurley was a Korean War Veteran in the U.S. Army serving in the Pacific Theater.

He was a loving Daddy to his son, Edwin Gurley and his wife Pam of Bowersville, GA and Grandfather and Great-Grandfather to his granddaughter, Jennifer K. & Heath Ankerich, two step-grandchildren, Taran G. Myers and Legh Ann G. Myers, three great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.He is also survived by his brother, Joe L. Gurley of Bowersville, GA, his sisters, Shirley Green of Bowersville, GA, and Helen Terry of Pendleton SC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Leighton Ray Gurley, son, David Gurley, daughter, Ann Gurley, brothers, Frank, James, Alvin and Bob Gurley and by sisters, Kathryn Wells, Leon Thomason and Betty Duncan.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the Cross Roads Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening.
