Mr. Dwight Roosevelt South, age 79, formerly of Lavonia, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Stephens County Hospital.
Born April 4, 1933 in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Walter & Isabelle (Bailey) South. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Billy & Linda South, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters: Maxine Payne, Mildred Miller, and Jewell Watson; and brothers: Gus, Hoke, Ray, Jim, Poole, and Travis South.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Harvill and Rev. Mike Smithofficiating. A private burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 1333 Pleasant Hill Road, Martin, GA 30557.
