Edwin Frank "Ed" Dean, age 81, of Martin, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born December 16, 1939, in Stephens County, he was the son of the late Frank Phillip Dean and Whitman Faye Smith. He retired from Coats & Clark after many years of service and was a member of Martin Baptist Church. Mr. Dean enjoyed working with animals on his farm. However, his greatest loves were his wife of 38 years and his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife: Geraldine LeCroy Dean; children: Joyce Moxley (Mark), Pete Dean (Elaine), Teresa Dean, Connie Dean, Tim Floyd (Anne), and Sandi Owens; siblings: Faye Rickman, Sara Kinney, James Dean, Gladys Bolman, and Rebecca Bohannon; twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Roger Elrod and Tyler Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home.
